1. When did you start martial arts, and what motivated you to begin?

I first encountered Taekwondo as a child but had to stop due to my studies. In 2008, when I entered the Department of Sports Science at Kangwon National University, I joined a Judo club and was introduced to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I was immediately drawn to how practical it was—the techniques I learned on the very first day could be applied directly in sparring.

2. What made you decide to become a instructor?

The joy I found in training and competing inspired me to share my knowledge with others. In the process of teaching, I realized that it also enhanced my own skills. I began with a university club, later taught at places like the 203 Commando Brigade, and eventually became the main instructor at various specialized Jiu-Jitsu academies.

3. What are your goals as a Instructor or personal aspirations?

There was a time when I dreamed of becoming a famous athlete, but as the COVID period passed and Revolution grew, I moved further away from that personal dream. Now, as a instructor, I am dedicating all my energy to ensuring that students who are new to Jiu-Jitsu, as well as those who have not yet encountered it, can learn and enjoy it. My goal is to support all students who wish to compete, starting with the Australian Championship, and helping them reach even bigger stages.

4. What message would you like to share with your students?

The most important thing is to be cautious of injuries, and secondly, I hope you enjoy the process of training. Train happily with your teammates and focus on your life. No matter what your goal is, those who give your best in your own environment will achieve the best possible results.

5. What advice would you give to someone hesitating to start martial arts?

There may be many reasons holding you back right now. Over the past 15 years, many people around me have said, 'I wish I had started earlier' when they finally got started. Be brave. Now is the best time to begin. I am confident that your life will change for the better.

6. What certifications or competition titles have you achieved?
